The Ask

The Bryant family and their partners sought a powerful, long-lasting art installation to honor Kobe and Gigi in Vanessa Bryant's hometown of Anaheim. The sculpture needed to feature vibrant, custom artwork by Brian Peterson—applied seamlessly to a large butterfly-shaped metal sculpture. The install would sit beside a new public basketball court, “Forever Courtside,” and required full durability, beauty, and impact.

The Execution

We worked hand-in-hand with Brian Peterson and the project’s stakeholders to translate his artwork into graffiti-proof vinyl graphics that could withstand time, sun, and public use. After site surveys, CAD development, and material testing, our team fabricated the butterfly panels, printed and laminated the final artwork, and installed it on-site—just ahead of the public unveiling.

Key Deliverables Included:

Dual-sided custom vinyl graphics with UV laminate and graffiti-resistant coating

Full CAD renderings and strike-off samples for pre-approval

On-site installation with a trusted fabrication partner

The impact

The final piece was unveiled to wide public acclaim, with thousands of visitors stopping by weekly to photograph, reflect, and play on the court. Vanessa Bryant praised the project’s importance in carrying on Kobe and Gigi's legacy. The City of Anaheim confirmed its popularity, saying the new court and sculpture are some of the most visited features in the area. The mural—visible from multiple angles—is now a permanent part of Pearson Park and a centerpiece for community engagement.
